William Gooderham Sr.William Gooderham Sr. was a distiller.  He and his brother-in-law built a small distillery in 1837 to handle surplus grain, expanded in 1859, and by 1875 Gooderham & Worts were Canada's largest distiller.

Gooderham migrated to Canada in 1832 and went into the milling business with his brother-in-law James Worts. He was also a founder and President of the Bank of Toronto.
